Kaduna State commissioner for Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Daniel Amuze Danauta said today in Kaduna that “the empowerment of youths by and with sports is a priority for the Malam El Rufai government in Kaduna State.”
Speaking at an informal opening of the NNPC Junior Tennis Championship taking place at the Murtala Square, Hon. Danauta said that the impact of the junior tennis development driven by NNPC, CBN, SNEPCo and others is there for all to see.
“The Kaduna State government will continue to support institutions like the International Tennis Academy which has taken the bull by the horn to ensure that our boys and girls prosper through sports.” Adding, “We shall always welcome, support and encourage the ITA. Our doors are always open.”
The commissioner was accompanied by the permanent secretary, Mr Jonah Gandu and the director of sports, Elisha Samuel Yashim.
In opening one-set round robin matches thereafter, Toyin Asogba from Lagos beat Omolayo Bamidele from Ekiti State 7-5 while
Joseph Fortune from Lagos also defeated Joseph Peter from Benue 7-5.
The tournament is scheduled to end on Sunday
